Honestly speaking I hate rains.... well its not exactly rains..but the thought of travelling during the season. Getting slushy..chip chip and stuff..
Yesterday, i guess Mumbai had the first brush with monsoon. it cannot be exactly called as rains..but ya it did drizzle a bit.
Mention the word monsoon and u ll get some pretty horrific expression..atleast from the travelling fraternity....those expressions are justified..after what the monsoons did 2 us in the last two years...
Anyways....come monsoon ...u ll get Train problem..trains running late...trains flooded etc etc etc...and especially Harbour Line, its notorious for flooding...i have even heard train gossips dat..even if someone pisses on the tracks, the track gets flooded :) ....
Today morning when i reached the station to catch my regular 8.17 am CST local...i was shocked...trains running late....the 7.20 train arrived at vashi at 8.00 am....Wow now dats pretty late....and it was crowded like hell..Hell means HELL...
if its crowd.u wont find me anywhere near it..so like a good boy i skipped the train and waited for the next one... 10 mins later i hear wat i always dread to hear" platform no 3 ki local aaj raddh kar di jayi hai"... Damn...i started to think...did that rains yesterday create all this mess...no no...it cant be called rain...it was jus a sprinkle..the roads hardly got wet in that..if that sprinkle created this problem....wat will a full fledged rain do???.....i was wondering and wondering...i called my Boss and told him that i ll be late for work..i was waiting and waiting and caught the 8.13 local at 8.50 am...clearly i had surpassed even the grace period to reach my office..
the trains was crowded ..but ya you could manage to get into it...the gents compartment was crowded as usual...the ladies on the other hand was pretty empty....i bit my lips ( i do get jealous)..in our compartment we hardly get 1 inch space between us..whereas the ladies almost get 4 inches...i m soo damn jealous...
like me it seems everyone present on the platform wanted to get into the train...
the train was packed...Jam packed i must say..it would have put Subway sandwiches and McD to shame...i felt like somehow calling up their managers and show them " Boss this is what is called as stuffing or filling"...
the train was filled to the brim.. it couldnt accomodate any more...but This is Mumbai...people somehow manage to cling themselves onto the train...
as the train left i could see sudden darkness...the entire compartment was dark, i was wondering whether there was some eclipse..u could c hands hands,, and more hands all trying to hold the rod above their head to balance themselves..
the train reached Govandi.....U could hear a war cry..some thing like "AYe AYE UTTAR AYYYYYE"....now the overfilled train was overflowing...one was shouting..." chalo andar chalo"..i said to myself..ya ya as if theres lots of space inside..i was sandwiched in between..
the fellow behind me said " Boss aage pressure do...peeche balance nahi ho raha hai"....i was wondering howthe hell do i give pressure when i myself was standing without any support..i would have easily resembled an erotic Khajuraho statue.
Kurla came and the entire content ( 40% to be precise ) of the compartment got down..i too had to get down with the crowd..but the compartment was soon refilled..but this time it was better..u had lots of space to breathe..i removed my mp3 palyer ..which till now was tucked in my bag along with my wallet..and started listening to music....felt very happy cos i was standing under the thing called FAN..and it was actually working...working means not just moving...in fact almost all fans in the train do work..... they just move..dont serve the purpose for which they are meant. ie giving air...
but my pleasure was shortlived...come GTB nagar..3 truckloads of people must have entered..i was pushed left right and centre..and finally ended up in my trademark pose..which i call " SANDWICH"....
I came across this Ad in the train... wonder what that " No guaranted" mean....is it something like conditions apply in Hindi??
i really wonder why people spend soo much money on gyms , jacuzzi, when you can get the same result and experience in a crowded train..My friend "A" are you listening ;).....

hey Ram
good one....
Hi Ram...
Good observation
No need to tell the pose in which I stood from Ghatkopar-Kurla with one leg in the air & bag on someone's head & some small fellow squibbling under my chest.
don't worry i was in Kurla getting myself squashed in trying to get down & then up again on the Panvel train.
That's life of a common Mumbaikar
